Liverpool Biennial is a Festival of Contemporary Art with exhibitions and events from 20 September to 30 November.
The fifth edition of Liverpool Biennial's International exhibition is MADE UP, which is all about art's ability to stir our imagination, to suspend disbelief and create alternative realities.
The following family friendly events are part of this festival:
MADE UP is a collection of brand new, exciting work by artists from around the world, presented right across the city in galleries and public spaces and almost all of it is free.
MADE UP is hosted at FACT, Tate Liverpool, Open Eye Gallery and the Bluecoat. There are also 15 amazing projects in the public realm, including a wooden amphitheatre hosting local bands, a house in the form of a fairground ride, an enormous crystal spider weaving a web over a public square and a mesmerising infinity mirror-room.
The best place to find out about all the works on display and the events happening throughout the festival is the Liverpool Biennial visitor centre in the former ABC Cinema on Lime Street. Here you'll be able to pick up a map, buy a guide book, and ask any questions you might have about the festival. You can also find lots of information and content on our website -www.biennial.com.
There are also lots of opportunities to take a guided tour of the festival, including a pushchair-friendly tour at 10.30 on 17 October. You can book a place by calling the visitor centre on 0845 2202800. There is also a soft-play space for smaller children in the visitor centre.
Age Suitability:
Not all art works will be suitable for children of all ages. We suggest that you refer to our website nearer the festival dates to determine whether or not the works displayed at each gallery will be suitable for your children.
All of the work in the public realm is great for all ages.
