One of three large-scale, temporary, creative spaces co-ordinated by Liverpool Biennial in the Liverpool neighbourhoods of Kirkdale, Garston and Kensington. Each community is programming events and activities to celebrate the possibilities offered by these dynamic spaces
Metal in Kensington invited Columbian father and son team Luis and Juan Pelaez to transform the disused approach to Edge Hill Station, the oldest passenger station in the world. Nexus, a spectacular sea of columns illuminated in the evening, is a reference to the original 1830?s flooring found at the station. The piece situates the contemporary alongside the historical and breathes new life into an old environment.
The Pavilion will be programmed by Metal and the residents and community around Edge Hill station. This commission will become a beacon for the area, a visual statement of ambition and aspiration for the use of the station as a cultural resource.
