The fantastic family show Room on the Broom was performed recently at Southport Arts Centre as part of Play Up!, their annual festival of children's theatre.

The team at Southport Arts Centre offered some lovely competition prizes that we gave away through this website and our free family friendly e-newsletters. One lucky winner was Gill Power from Childwall, who won a family ticket for Room on the Broom, as well as a goody bag full of treats for her family!

Gill wrote in and told us all about her family's day out in Southport:

"We had a great day. Finlay and Esme loved the goody bags (and the family friendly merseyside balloons!!), and we had really good seats.  the performance was great and both of them enjoyed it - there were loads of songs, actions and jokes. I thought the dragon was a bit scary (especially when he was talking about eating 'kids on sticks!) but they thought he was hilarious.

After the show we walked down to the beach for a paddle and everyone got very wet!  the day was finished off with fish and chips on the pier and a turn on the merry - go -round. Perfect!"
