Review of Space Invaders and the Chip Tune Samba Band family workshop at FACT

Milla, aged 9, went to FACT recently with her family to check out their Space Invaders exhibition and to take part in a special musical workshop, Chip Tune Samba Band.

"On Sunday 31 January my brother, Mum and Dad and I arrived at  FACT  ready to take part in the family workshop ‘Chip Tune Samba band’  hosted by pixelh8. Due to a few technical problems we had to wait a bit so we decided to have a look around the space invaders exhibition. That was when we discovered ‘Flowers’, Playstation 3 game available to use on a huge screen. Mum got really excited seeing as it was her first ever go on a Playstation 3! We fought over the remote and when it was finally my turn I glided the flower petals through the dark mysterious world making it bright and beautiful!

Next we went back to the samba band workshop where we got all the D.S lites connected to the big screen. Later on we played some patterns using the different drums on our D.S’s. I chose the Sirdu drum and tapped the screen of my D.S to hit the right beats. It was great seeing all the family playing together on DS’s – even Dad got involved!

I really enjoyed it at the FACT centre that day and I will definitely come back to play ‘flowers’! I would give that day an 8 out of ten and would recommend it to others."
