Sudley House
Sudley House

Travel back in time and visit our Victorian mansion Sudley House. Discover the story of former residents the Holt family and view the only art collection of a Victorian merchant still in its domestic setting.

Explore how Victorian children learned and played in our childhood rooms; little ones can play with our Noah’s Ark and other toys.

Sudley stands in its own grounds making it an ideal spot for a family picnic. If you want to take the weight of your feet our café has a children’s menu, highchairs and staff are happy to warm bottles.

By road:
Please bear in mind that there is very limited parking at the venue so public transport is strongly recommended.

The drive from the city centre takes approximately 20 mins. The easiest route is to simply follow the road that runs alongside the river - the A5036 (it is called Wapping in the Albert Dock area). Drive south - the river will be on your right. The road will run for a few miles becoming Sefton Street and then Riverside Drive and will pass over several roundabouts - just follow the main line of traffic over them. Go past the Britannia pub and a short while later you reach a roundabout with a sign pointing left to the recycling centre. Here follow the sign left onto Jericho Lane and follow this until you reach a main traffic junction. Go straight across at these traffic lights (crossing the A561 Aigburth Road) onto Ashfield Road. At the next set of traffic lights go right onto Elmswood Road, then just before Mossley Hill church (which is on your right) turn right onto Mossley Hill Road. The entrance to Sudley House is about 500m along on your right.

By train:
There are two railway stations within walking distance of Sudley House. If travelling from the city centre board at Lime Street Station - several services stop at Mossley Hill station. Alternatively, take the Southport-Hunts Cross line to Aigburth station (board at either Liverpool Central or Moorfields). This service runs every 15 mins.

By bus:
Several buses stop near Sudley House including number 61 from stand 5atBootle Bus Station to Elmswood Road bus stop (5min walk to Sudley House), and the 80 or 80A to Rose Lane bus stop from Great Charlotte Street in the city centre (10 mins walk).

Local travel information is available on the Merseytravel website or by calling 0871 200 2233.
