From candy canes and creepy crawlies to making noise and musical stories; the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall has plenty to entertain your family. With music workshops for children throughout the year and family concert series, we are committed to providing families with the opportunity to enjoy and learn about music together.  With easy access for buggies, baby changing facilities and a breast feeding friendly policy Liverpool Philharmonic Hall is truly family friendly.

Music workshops for Children
We offer something for children ofall ages in our fun workshops: singing, games and noise making for children aged 0-2 years and 3-4 years; and listening games and creative music making for 5-7 years olds and 8-11 year olds. Parents are encouraged to join in and share the musical learning experiences with their little ones.

Family Concerts
If you like dressing up and enjoying music in a family friendly environment our Family Concerts are perfect for you – fidgeting is allowed! The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra is joined by a charismatic presenter to lead you through an entertaining hour of music Children can have fun with their families while becoming familiar with music and the orchestra. Although aimed at 4-10 year olds, you are welcome to bring the whole family along!

Music for the older child
These concerts are a great way for older children (10+) and adults to dip their toe into classical music. Film music and well known pieces are presented by the thrilling Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

Sing and play with the Phil
The Phil also offers out of school activities for the older child (10+):

  • Supersing: A chance for anyone to rehearse and perform their favourite choruses in a massed choir led by Christopher Bell

  • Superorchestra: A chance for players of Grade 4 standard upwards to perform orchestral music as part of a massed orchestra including musicians from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

Box Office opening hours:
In person/ counter bookings: Mon - Sat 10am - 5.30pm and up to 15 minutes after the start of the performance on concert nights. 
Phone bookings: 0151 709 3789:  Mon - Sat 9.30am – 5.30pm
Sundays: 12noon - 5pm for telephone bookings only and counter bookings from 5.30pm on concert nights.


Rubato (Café bar) opening times:
Rubato is perfect for a hungry family. The Philharmonic Hall’s café bar (downstairs) has a varied menu ranging from homemade sandwiches and cakes to delicious main meals.

Monday - Friday
11am to the end of the interval on all concert nights (until 4pm on non-concert nights).

Saturdays and Sundays
5pm to end of the interval on all concert nights and from noon for Sunday afternoon concerts (closed on non-concert nights).

By train
Liverpool Lime Street Railway Station is a 15 minute walk from the Hall and Central Station is a 10 minute walk away.    

By bus
Merseyside’s buses, numbers 1 and 4, link Hope Street with Liverpool city centre, Lime Street Station and Central Station. Full timetables are available from Merseytravel on 0871 200 22 33

Log on to the Mersey Travel (www.merseytravel.gov.uk) website for comprehensive transport information and to use their ‘Journey Planner’ service. Merseytravel co-ordinates all public transport with private bus and rail operators to provide public transport in Merseyside.
     
By car
If you are coming to Liverpool on the M62, finding the Philharmonic Hall is straightforward. Continue along the motorway until its end and then follow the signs for the city centre, cathedrals and universities (about 3 miles). Turn left at the Metropolitan Cathedral and head past the Everyman Theatre along Hope Street.
If lost, use this maxim: find one cathedral, head for the other. The Phil is halfway between the two.

On foot
Philharmonic Hall is situated on Hope Street, approximately 10 minutes’ walk from the city centre. The main entrance is situated on Hope Street at the junction where Hardman Street meets Hope Street opposite the Philharmonic Public House.

Share a ride and join the Phil's car-sharing scheme: The Phil has launched a new car-sharing scheme, designed to enable concert-goers to share rides to events here at the Phil. See our Car Share Scheme page for more details and sign up today.

There are several car parks close to Philharmonic Hall (see map for locations).

1.  Philharmonic Hall Car Park
Situated on Caledonia Street, this car park is open from 8.30am until 15 mins after the end of concerts.
Please note that parking is limited and is on a first come, first served basis.
Cost: £4.00 (after 5.30pm), £5.00 (before 5.30pm).

2.  Blackburne House Car Park
Situated on Falkner Street, this car park is open on concert nights from 5.30pm, until 20 mins after the end of concerts.
Please note that gates will be locked after this period. 
Please do not use this car park if unstaffed.
Cost: £4.00

3. Myrtle Street
Situated off Chatham Street (University of Liverpool Car Park).
This car park is available Monday - Friday after 4pm, and all day on Saturday and Sunday. Take ticket on entry at the barrier, and pay with ticket at pay machine before leaving.

4. Liverpool Cathedral Car Park
Generally open on concert nights from 5.30pm.
Cost: £3 on production of your concert ticket.
Tickets must be produced and payment made to the Constable's Lodge on arrival. We offer secure parking with CCTV monitoring and manned patrols.

Please note that car parks 2, 3, & 4 are not operated by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic.

Philharmonic Hall provides a range of facilities for disabled customers, including:

• Level access is available to the foyer and box office.

• Passenger lift and level access is available to stalls and boxes in the concert hall and to the Grand Foyer Bar and Restaurant.

• Public phones (situated by the lift in the Foyer) and the box office counter are accessible to wheelchair users.

• Spaces for wheelchairs plus companions are available in boxes 7 and 16, in the front and rear stalls and in the restaurant.

• A unisex WC is available in the outer corridor of the auditorium close to Box 7.

• An infra-red hearing system is available. Contact a steward when you arrive at the venue to obtain one.

• Large print and audio versions of the brochure are available from the marketing department by calling 0151 210 2895 or emailing marketing@liverpoolphil.com

• Guide dogs are welcome throughout the building. Please advise the box office when purchasing your ticket if you are bringing a guide dog.

Stewards and trained first aid personnel are on duty during any performance to assist you if required.
